Isaac's Birthday Party!
Isaac had his party on Friday night and it was so much fun! Our fisherman wanted a fishing birthday party and cake so we did our best. I have a friend who made Isaac's invitations and put a picture of him with a fish he had caught on them! The invitations read "Our Big fisherman turns 8". She did an awesome job with the invites! Thanks Wendy! I wanted to fix him a nice fishing cake but didn't know what I would do. My mom found a bass magnet at the Bass Pro shop and it worked great! Thanks Mom! Together Bryan and I iced and decorated the cake and I felt that it turned out pretty well. Isaac loved it!! Once everyone arrived we ate pizza (which is one of Isaac's favorites). Then I had made a slideshow of pictures of him over the past 8 years and everyone watched it. He was so excited! As I got those pictures together I am amazed at how fast these 8 years have gone by and can't believe that my boy is growing up!!! After the slideshow we sang "Happy Birthday" and ate cake and opened presents! Isaac was blessed with so many gifts! He has gotten alot of cards and some very nice things from our family, friends and church family. Thank you to each of you who have made Isaac's 8th Birthday so great!! As you can see that it was a team effort from each individual to make Isaac's day so special!! He is a very special boy and I know that God has great plans for him and is even using him right now in a special way. My prayer is that Isaac will glorify God greater this next year!

Isaac turns 8!!

Today was Isaac's Birthday!! He is 8 years old now. It is so hard to believe that 8 years ago he was not even a day old yet! I remember praying that God would give us a child and then wondering if we would ever have a baby. Bryan and I had been married 5 years when Isaac came along and I can't even remember life without the kids (it just seems that they have always been with us!). Isaac is a miracle to us and know that he is just one of God's blessings to us.
He had a great day. Isaac has become a fisherman and today he got plenty of fishing stuff!! He loved evey bit of it.
Let me explain the bandaid.... Two weeks ago he got hit in the nose with a bad mitten racket. A scary experience for me. So we have been docotoring it.
And the two front teeth are gone!! Last night at church as the kids were playing he got hit accidently and those two teeth came out!! They were already loose and barely hanging in. He was excited about that too!
Thank you Lord for Isaac and may he glorify you greatly this year!

From our kitchen to yours....
I know what it is like to have no air conditioner in the middle of August....that's been us since Sunday afternoon. Praise God it got fixed this afternoon!!!! I didn't want to even think about cooking but I did want to share with you all one of Isaac's favorite recipes.
Isaac's Birthday is Thursday, my oldest is growing up too fast! He loves Devil's Food fudge Cookies. This recipe was given to me by a friend at church. If there is ever an option of what he would like for me to make this is one of his request. Maybe you can try them and see what you think!
Devil's Food Fudge Cookies
1 box of Devil food cake mix
2 eggs
1/2 cup of oil
1/2 cup of chocolate chips
1/2 cup of chopped walnuts (optional) (Isaac would leave these out!)
Preheat oven to 350. Combine cake mix, eggs and oil in large bowl. Stir until thoroughly blended. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts (mixture will be stiff). Shape into 36 balls. Place two inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake for 9-11 minutes. Do not over bake. Cool for two minutes on baking sheet.
Enjoy!

A nugget of God's Truth...
Hebrews Chapter 10 verses 24 & 25 says..
Let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much more as you see the Day approaching.
Each time I have read or studied this passage I have always tought of it to refer to not forsaking the church building...boy has God opened my eyes! Recently a friend emailed me and refered to this verse in our relationship as friends. I believe that the writer of Hebrews knows how important it is for us to fellowship with other believers. Not just at church but with the church (the body). Just think of how God uses others in our lives to encourage, spur us on, accountablilty, to bless us, etc. May I encourage you to seek out those friends and don't forsake the assembling of ourselves together. Encourage those God places in your life and allow others to be a blessing to you. I am guilty of not receiving blessings from others well, but I am learning to accept the blessings God gives me through others.

Graduation!
OK, this is not the best picture of me but I did want to post...
Our Sarah graduated from Kindegarten last night. She will start First grade this week. We had a small family graduation ceremony at our home. Both grandparents came and we had supper. Sarah was so excited! She recited 5 bible verses (of her choice), the 10 commandments, the 9 fruits of the Spirit, she read from one of her K5 readers, counted by 5's, recognized coins and how much they are worth, answered some addition and subraction facts, and read times on the clock. She did very well and we are all so proud of her. I love being a homeschooling family!!
