Fall Soccer Season

This weekend we finished up our fall soccer season with games on Saturday. Grandparents were able to come up and spend some time with us.

 My parents came up on Wednesday evening and were able to be here for soccer games on Thursday night. Elijah, Timothy, and Joanna had games on Thursday night while Isaac and Sarah refereed a game.

 Bryan's parents arrived on Friday afternoon and Gigi (Bryan's mother) brought supper for all of us. She is an amazing cook. She made chicken and dumplings and red beans and rice. Elijah, Timothy, and Joanna helped make the banana pudding, and they enjoyed licking the spoons and bowls.

 Soccer games started early on Saturday. Isaac and Sarah had the first game at 9 and then the other children played games after that with the last game at 1:30. It was a hot and exhausting day. Sarah and Isaac had two games and in between their two games they refereed three games (they were busy and tired).

 Do you recognize these two soccer players? This was one of our first soccer seasons when they were younger... much younger. They began playing Upward soccer when they were 5 and 7 years old.

Here they are all grown up! (Makes my heart melt!) In the fall of 2014 they began playing soccer at the local recreational league. It was a whole different game than Upwards. We had to get use to the rules and plays of soccer at this level. They have had some great times playing soccer. Our family is very blessed to have the physical ability to play a sport and we often remind the children that we never should take that for granted. Thank you Lord!!

Soccer 2013

When Isaac and Sarah were younger and we lived in Alabama we enjoyed playing Upwards basketball and soccer. Then when we moved to Tennessee there is not alot of Upward sports around. There was NOTHING at all when we lived in Shelbyville. God is so good and provided a great opportunity for the kids to play sports at the local elementary school though.

Then as we were getting ready to move here Timothy asked if he could play soccer. After some searching we found an Upward soccer league not too far from where we live. We decided to let the four oldest ones all play. The picture above is of Elijah (#5) and his friend from church Cade at a game.

Elijah enjoys playing and loves running as fast as he can. He is pretty fast! :)

This is all game to Elijah, no competition at all. He is just out there to have fun. I love that about him...he enjoys life.

This soccer league is a small one and that means that the teams were co-ed. Isaac and Sarah were on the same team and that worked out really good. Isaac is the only boy in this picture. :)

Isaac plays with all his heart! He gives it 110% and then some. On his and Sarah's team there was another brother and sister. We have enjoyed getting to know them. They homeschool too and there are times at practice that their Dad and Bryan will play a game with the team. So fun to watch.

Again Isaac is the only boy in this picture. Him and Sarah enjoy being on the same team and working together to score some points.

This girl is growing up so fast right before my eyes. Sarah has really enjoyed playing soccer. She has a good time wherever she is. Being my social butterfly, she has become good friends with the other girl on her team.

In this picture she and the boy in front of her was trying for the ball at the same time and Sarah got kicked in the leg. She was down for a minute but recovered really well and got right back in there.

Here is Sarah playing defense. I have enjoyed watching the kids play and have a good time. We worked it out to where they all have practice on Thursday evenings and I pack a picnic for us all. The three little ones and I will eat while Isaac and Sarah practice and then they eat while we are driving home.

Here is soccer man! Timothy is in the middle with a grey jersey on. He looked at me during the second practice and said "OK I am done. Practiced last week and that is all I needed." Then when games started his excitement kicked in. :)

He likes being able to have the ball during a game. He has gotten a goal at every game and he likes telling us all about the game when its over.

Here he is patiently waiting for someone to kick the ball. We are so thankful that the kids have gotten to play soccer and meet new friends. Basketball is next and we have signed the kids up to play at the elementary school. So the next sports pictures I post will be of basketball. :)

Basketball 2012

The three oldest have been playing basketball at the school (Community). It has been very good for them. They all have enjoyed meeting new friends, having fun, and being on a team.

The first three pictures are of Sarah. She has done really well and loves playing basketball. Her team has not lost a game!!

The next three pictures are of Isaac and his team. He has a young team, he is the oldest and the only one who has played before. They have won two games! He loves playing and has done really good!!

I thought this was a good "action" shot of him!! :)

The next three pictures are of Isaac too, but on a different team. He was asked to join some of the other boys and make a team to play another school. He played two games with his regualr team and then later that night he played with this other team. That was three games total for this boy and he enjoyed every minute of it!!

The last three pictures are of Elijah playing basketball. This was his first time playing and he just had a good time. So fun to watch the Kindegarten age group....no score keeping just plain fun and learning!!

T-Ball

 Elijah has started T-ball and is having so much fun! It is with the same league and team Sarah played for 2 years ago. We like this league because it is not too busy. They practiced in June and now just have games once or twice a week. It is at a church in town and not competitive. I took some pictures at his game last night and wanted to share them with you. This first picture is him up to bat. He did really well!

 He got on base. Elijah would keep running if there wasn't a coach on base to stop him! LOL!!

 When he is in the field he struggles to pay attention. He wants to play in the dirt so bad!! He is all boy! He is having a good time! :)

 Timothy and Joanna were his biggest fans! :) They did really well about staying right there in front of me and not wondering off. This picture is of Timothy finishing up his chicken nuggets from supper. He was eating with dirty hands, dirt won't hurt (right?)! :)

Little Miss Joanna wanted her own water bottle and to do it herself! She is so independent and is growing up way too fast!!

Can we say SWEAT?

Saturday was our last games for this basketball season. Well, they play a tournament this weekend...but last game for regular season. My parents got to come and watch them play.

I would like to take a moment and give a "shout out" to Paw and Maw. They have come 4 hours to see the kids play ball and be with us, that means the world to all of us. My kids were so excited Friday night because they knew that Paw and Maw were at our house....just as excited as if it was Christmas!! My parents have been very faithful in coming to see the kids, even though it is a long trip! Thank you mom and dad for coming and spending time with us, we LOVE it!! :)

Back to the basketball games. Sarah and Isaac have learned so much and have done a really good job. I am very proud of them! Sarah was one of the two hustlers on her team and she would run full court the whole game some Saturdays. Isaac has done really well. He has been the first to score points on his team at a few of the games. It has been such a joy to watch them play and grow. I will admit that I am not a competitor, so if things ever got heated I was a nervous wreck! I would love for them to just play and have fun, no score keeping. :) They both give their all to whatever they are doing. Isaac and Sarah both have a had a great time and enjoyed playing ball. Now we will enjoy some down time until time for the next sport to start up.

Basketball

Basketball season has started and our two big kiddos are playing. Last year Sarah played and Isaac was finishing up football. This year they both are able to play and enjoy it. They play at the elementary school. Bryan is Sarah's coach this year. Isaac is on a team with alot of his friends from church and football. I took alot of pictures but because they move sooooo fast most of my pictures were a blur. :( I will try and get some better pictures next time. Below is a picture of Sarah throwing the ball in and Isaac (in black) in action!!

Well, baseball is in full swing! Most of Isaac's games are later games so the younger kiddos and I don't get to make those. We did get to go this past Friday night to a game that started at 7:30. Joanna goes to bed at 8 so she was give out! Isaac has enjoyed playing and being with other boys his age. His team did not win this game but did win the game on Saturday. Next week is a busy week with a full week of games.
